Concept (Take Two)

Instead of writing a concept as such, I'm now concentrating on a set of goals I would like to achieve:

• Respect to the Historical Buildings
• Open and accessible (engage the community, bring the community together)
• include elements of the folie
• Integrate with the site but do not disrupt it (respect the history)
• Engage the community across different levels
• Maximise the use of natural light where appropriate.

The first step to this was picking an appropriate site for my building.  I have already completed a solar study, but I also wanted to look at access, respect to the historical buildings and visibility from the riverside walkway.

The above diagram outlines a proposed location for the building in the area of maximum sunlight, close to the largest number of historically relevant buildings, but also closest to pedestrians from the city, as well as vehicles which may bring disabled people, as well as props and supplies.  The inclusion of the disabled is important as accessibility is part of my concept.
