The element in the middle is highly sculptural and interesting, and it symbolises the coming together of the community. My belief is that architecture should represent something or have some purpose, and this gives my design purpose. My original idea was to have the "ribbons" randomly cross each other, but this ended up looking quite messy, so I have decided to go for a more regular pattern, as outlined below.
